My name’s Jean, I’m 22 and I graduated from CCSU in May 2009 with a BA in History and a minor in Sociology. In February/March 2009 I realized that I had no idea what I wanted to do when I graduated. I did know that I didn’t have an apartment, a serious boyfriend, and that I would be losing my job after I graduated, in the middle of a recession. Also, I did know that my friend, Danielle, was planning on teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) abroad after graduating and got me thinking about it. She gave me a link to a site that posts ESL jobs from around the world, and the country posting the most was South Korea. I decided to apply to several jobs in South Korea and landed one through a company called Korean Horizons that places native English speaking teachers with public schools throughout South Korea. After several months of sending paperwork back & forth, the job became official. I arrived at the Incheon International Airport on September 25 at 7:30, went to Seoul for a 5 day orientation. The next day started teaching elementary school at an Incheon public school, where I will be until September 28, 2010. So far it has been a wonderful experience and coming to Korea has been one of the best decisions of my life.

i don’t know why, but reading introduction of yourself gave me a chill… it felt like I was going somewhere abroad where I have very little knowlege of. Hope your time in Korea has been worthwhile for you to come back someday near future again.
